  • Denver Steak, approximately .5 lbs (8oz)
  • A whole spaghetti squash.
  • 3 cups of brussels sprouts
  • Salt & Pepper to season
  • 4oz. of butter
  • ½ cup of Sake or White Wine (Your preference)
  • Extra Virgin Olive Oil
  • Rosemary
  • Cast iron skillet
  • Large pan to sauté
  • Large bowl

Step 1

Cut your spaghettis squash in half and scoop out the inside with a spoon. This recipe calls for using only half of the squash but if you like a squash or have a ton of people over feel free to use more! The easiest way to dice the squash is to first halve it, then halve it again. You want each piece to be about ¼ - ½ inch.

Step 2

Next, cut your brussels into halves or quarters. If they are exceptionally large brussels you may want to cut them down further so they cook evenly.

Step 3

Grab you veggies and place them in a bowl. Lightly sprinkle with olive oil and add salt and pepper.

Step 4

Place skillet over medium high heat. Coat pan in olive oil. Throw in your squash, once it becomes tender add in the brussels sprouts for about 3-4 minutes.
Next add your sake or white wine. If your pan is hot enough you will get a small fire show. Don't worry its just the alcohol burning, just enjoy the show.
Make sure to stir occasionally. Once you can't smell the alcohol in the dish, you can take off the fire.

Step 5

Next we are going to start prepping for the Denver.
Place a cast iron skillet over medium high heat and generously season the steak with salt and pepper.
When placing the denver on the skillet, make sure to place slowly facing away from you. For our steak we did roughly two minutes on each side. Don't forget to add the rosemary to your skillet! It'll add an extra oomph of flavor.
Throw in your butter and start to baste your steak.
Once you have reach your desired temperature for the steak (we cooked ours to a medium rare ~135 degrees) place steak on a clean cutting board and let rest for 10 minutes! This is the hardest part because we now at this point you're feeling those hunger pangs.

Once you've waited the long 10 minutes, slice your steak and serve!
